A SUMMARY OF ANTI-SEMITISM

We are delving into an awesome subject. In a sense it is a negative subject, anti-Semitism. Actually what we are talking about is anti-anti-Semitism. We are against anti-Semitism. The point is that anti-Semitism is something of which even most Christians are largely unaware in any in-depth way. For that reason we have published a Suggested Reading List for a study. Now this reading list was compiled by myself. I have been reading on the subject for ten years, during nine of which I didn't really know why I was reading it, but having been infected by anti-Semitism myself (before having come to Christ) through political teachings in the anti-Communist movement; the large segment of which actually teaches that communism is a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world.

Knowing the effects of that teaching on the human mind, knowing the literal brick wall that is built in the mind with that belief rooted in there, nothing can dent that. Nothing can get under it, over it, or around it. It is just that "Oh well, those poor people out there, they just don't understand, and if they really knew what I know then they would feel the same way as I do." Having been infected with that and knowing its damaging effects, is no doubt one of the reasons why the LORD laid it on my heart to get into this subject.

In Vancouver, I taught a ten week course on the subject of anti-Semitism. Perhaps the value of the course could best be illustrated by repeating part of the testimony given by a black member of the class who said the she had always thought before she took this course that anti-Semitism was just another form of racial bigotry. But from our in-depth Bible study of the subject, she had come to be made aware by the Spirit that it was satanic; and that the prejudice she had endured all her life in the United States as a black person could not compare with the satanic prejudice of anti-Semitism. So this reading list will help you greatly. I recommend it to you.

If we are going to talk about a subject we had better define it. There are many definitions but I think one of the best is John Paul Sautre's definition taken from his book Anti-Semite and Jew, and although not a believer himself he came up with this definition which according to the Jewish community, with whom I have checked it out, they regard also as excellent.

" Anti-Semitism is the attributing of all or part of one's own misfortunes and those of one's country or society to the presence of Jewish elements in the community, and proposing to remedy this state of affairs by depriving them of certain of their rights, by keeping them out of certain economic or social activities, by expelling them from the country, and even by exterminating them."

So let's just get the meat of that.

The attributing of misfortunes to Jewish elements in the community (item 1), proposing to do something about it by various social, economic, and even physical means, leading to the ultimate extension, the Holocaust, a preconceived Plan to exterminate them ,every man, woman and child from the face of the earth.

Another definition taken by a very excellent work by Grosser and Halberin entitled Anti-Semitism: The Causes and Effects of a Prejudice says this:

Anti-Semitism consists of attitudes and actions against Jews based on the belief that they are uniquely inferior, evil or deserving of condemnation by their very nature or by historical or religious dictates.

Israel's Pocket Library Book on Anti-Semitism taken from the prestigious Encyclopedia Judaica says that it is a general term denoting a prejudice expressed by all forms of hostility manifested towards the Jews throughout history and throughout the world.

Funk and Wagnell's Dictionary says that it is opposition to, prejudice against, or intolerance of the Jewish people. Another one says that it is the hatred and persecution of Jews as a group. Not the hatred of persons who happen to be Jews, but rather the hatred of persons because they are Jewish. That is a good definition. It is not the hatred of something in them or coming from them, it is the hatred of them because of the fact that they are Jews.

Now as soon as you start talking about anti-Semitism there is usually someone around who says "Who is a Jew any way?" They immediately get the whole question sidetracked by a debate about the tribe of Manessah and other things leading into the British Israel Society and other forms of disguised anti-Semitism; all of which really say "The Jews aren't the real Jews ;and we are the Jews and we want the blessings and we will give them the curses of Deuteronomy.

This is all too prevalent in the professing Church even today in North America. However, what I always say in answer to things like that, and I suggest that is how we approach this subject, not just to learn something but to learn how to respond to it when we meet it. I know longer let anti-Semitic statements pass unchallenged. If someone makes a sick Jewish joke, or an anti-Semitic joke, or an anti-Semitic statement about Israel or the news or anything, I challenge them. Now, of course, the spirit in which you challenge them is a matter for wisdom. But I suggest that it is time for Christians to start raising up the standard; and the standard is the Word of God. "When the enemy comes in like a flood (and he is certainly coming in in all sorts of ways and this is one of them) then the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against him. That standard is none other than the almighty Word of the almighty God which shall never fail. We have to find our answers in the Scriptures.

The surprising thing to me in my many years of study on the subject, is that a lot of the experts about anti-Semitism (who of course are themselves Jewish) do make it a point to say that the New Testament is anti-Semitic. They go through the New Testament and from a worldly point of view, they do what a lot of people do, they take scriptures out of context and they zero in on them and they use those statements out of context to prove supposedly that the New Testament is anti-Semitic. The strange thing about those authors to me however is that in evolving their own theories concerning anti-Semitism and how to deal with it, they don_t pay any attention or make any reference to the Old Testament. So the conclusion that I came to was that reading most of them, although their factual information is very valuable, reading most of it is sort of like going to the doctor or the psychiatrist who tell you that there is something wrong with you but they really don't know what the cure is.

Now if there is no cure, we had best not study the subject. But our hope lies in two things. One is that there is a cure even at this time for anti-Semitism and it is a spiritual cure. "The human heart is desperately wicked. Who can know it?" says the prophet Jeremiah. I must confess that sometimes I am amazed and could even be depressed at what surfaces out of my own heart on some occasions. That Scripture is still particularly relevant. You ask the Holy Spirit if there is anything resident in you which is inherently anti-Semitic and is of a prejudicial nature to the Jewish people.

It is helpful in this study to follow this: there is a developmental sequence in the human personality concerning anti-Semitism. It proceeds through three stages. It starts with beliefs, allegedly true, but false. It starts with a belief; that belief goes on to a feeling or emotion and that feeling or emotion triggers action hostile to that group or non-action (failing to do anything to help them). Let me give you three concrete examples. This is particularly important because of a paradox; for instance, if you ask someone who is anti-Semitic or challenge them and say that they have an irrational pattern of behaviour, they would be greatly insulted because although we look on their pattern of behaviour as irrational or illogical, to them it is perfectly rational. To them it is perfectly logical. Having started from a false "fact" which they believe to be true, they then go on through the spirit of deception and the spirit of error to improper conclusions, emotions and actions. Prejudice contrary to what is usually said is a rational pattern of behaviour. It is based on wrong facts, but consistent with those wrong facts it is rational. No prejudice person thinks of himself as a bigot. People can think of Archie Bunker as a bigot, but if it is themselves, they don't see themselves as a bigot. The anti-Semitic person has "good reasons" for his prejudice and conclusions.

Now I am going to give you examples from a period of history in Europe, World War II, and we are going to take a statement which is a statement of belief first, and then we are going to take a statement which is a statement of emotion arising out of that belief, and thirdly, the actions that resulted from that belief and that emotion.

The first is a statement made by a pastor in Germany from a pulpit in 1940. This was part of his sermon.

"A wave of anti-Semitism is sweeping the world as a reaction against

1. Jewish control of the news
2. international Jewish banking
3. atheistic communism spawned by Jews"

Now there is a statement of belief. The man making it believes it to be true. His statement is that there is a wave of anti-Semitism sweeping Europe and that it is the natural result of Jewish control of the news, international Jewish banking, and atheistic communism spawned by Jews. Now that is his belief system; and believing that certain things are going to flow from it.

Well if the Jews "control the news" they sure blew it in Lebanon. If there was ever rational proof given it was that this is a false allegation! Certainly the news that North America and Europe were smothered with, the anti-Semitic news, under the new disguise of "anti-Zionism is not necessarily anti-Semitism"; that is the new umbrella for the anti-Semites to march under. It is not that everything that Israel does is right, but to some of them everything that Israel does, and its very existence, is wrong. So they have a new mask to wear. So there is a statement of belief which is not all that uncommon, and most people have heard similar statements.

Now here is a statement from an authority on the subject of anti-Semitism, his name is Adolf Hitler. This is stage 2, feelings. He believed as the pastor did that made the statement I read to you, that the Jews were to blame for Germany's misfortunes.

Not that Germany was to blame for them for having started World War I and then being caught and defeated with its hand in the cookie jar, and that the League of Nations decided to restrict its ability to make war by imposing military and certain sanctions and inspections on them concerning armies, navies, air force, and the production of steel, and even made them make financial reparations for certain damages done. Hitler never said that. No. What Hitler said was "It is the Jews in the midst of Germany which are the cause of all our troubles." I saw a banner of a meeting of the Nazi Party in Nuremberg in 1933 in a huge convention hall and right across the back of the hall was a huge banner, must have been a hundred feet long, and on the banner it was written "Germany's misfortune is the Jews."

Hitler never let go of that "common-enemy" propaganda lie and everything that was a problem to Germany was blamed on the Jews. Here is what he said in his own book Mein Kampf (which by the way was published in the mid 1920s and was very widely read in Germany and was known to the population long before he came to power in 1933): "Gradually I began to hate these people. For me this was the time of the greatest spiritual upheaval I have ever gone through (notice that - from the powers of darkness) I have ceased to be a weak-kneed cosmopolitan and have become a convinced anti-Semite." So Hitler's beliefs led him to a passion of hatred and that is what must be said of anti-Semitism too. It is a passion. It is an evil passion from the heart. Jesus said, "It is out of the heart that come murders and adulteries and fornications and lies and all evil things." So hatred is the heart of the matter, and hatred is from the pit, not from heaven. In early 1933 Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany, equivalent to our Prime Minister, and not long later due to the death of the leader, he became the head of Germany.

So, in 1935, which is four years before the war, a set of laws were passed which were called the Nuremberg Laws, because Nuremberg was the headquarters of the Nazi Party before it took power and that is why the Nuremberg Trials were held there when the war was over. He passed these laws on September 13, 1935 - now note that date because Western civilization was not ignorant nor innocent concerning the Holocaust - Marriages between Germans and Jews are prohibited; non-marital sex between Jews and Germans was prohibited; Jews were prohibited from employing female German citizens under 45 years of age in their households. Now those were the earliest manifestations. Until then the laws of Germany had not been anti-Semitic, but when Hitler came to power they very quickly became so.

A document called The Record - The Holocaust in History 1933 - 1945 documents just how quickly things deteriorated:

• January 30, 1933 - President Hindenberg appoints Adolph Hitler as Right Chancellor of the New Reich.
• March 23, the first concentration camp Dachau was established (Now Jews weren't the first to go to the concentration camps. We should be watching for patterns from which we can benefit as we discuss this subject. The concentration camps were set up firstly for the political opponents of the Nazis. The first to go were the gypsies; then the Jehovah Witnesses who couldn't be trusted politically because they didn't believe in taking any oaths of allegiance to the country; then the habitual criminals - who cared about them?; then the mentally ill and the mentally handicapped; then the trade union leaders; then the Jews; then the Christians who stood up against Adolph Hitler for any reason.
• April 1 Nazis proclaimed a general boycott of all Jewish owned businesses.
• April 7 (this is still 1933), Jews were dismissed from the German bureaucracy and denied admission to the legal profession.
• April 26 the Gestapo was formed.
• May 2 - dissolution of the Free Trade Unions - trade unions were abolished.
• May 10 - burning of books written by Jews and the opponents of Nazism.
• December 1 - Hitler declares legal unity of the German State and the Nazi Party.

Now that all happened in 1933. And what did the West do about it? Well the West knew all about it and the West knew about a lot more. It wasn't that the Holocaust burst upon the West without any notice that we could say (like I said) "Well I had nothing to do with that or my country had nothing to do with that."

I stand here as a Canadian today to ashamedly tell you that Canada is directly implicated in the deaths of thousands of Jews in the Holocaust; and I will prove that to you. Time marches on and so did Hitler. People were in the concentration camps; some had escaped; the word was out about what was going on; people couldn't believe it; the Jews themselves couldn't believe that humans could become such barbarians as what the escapees were reporting was being done in these camps. So what happened? Well if the free nations of the West had known that the Jewish people were marked for annihilation we would have intervened wouldn't we? Well then why are we not told in our history books about a convention that Roosevelt of the United States called in 1938 in Europe? All of the Western nations were invited. McKenzie King didn't want to send a Canadian delegation at all. His diaries reveal is rabid anti-Semitism. Actually Canada was finally intimidated into sending a delegation because it was said to him by his advisors: "Mr. Prime Minister, it wouldn't_t look very good for Canada if Canada and Fascist Italy were the only two nations not to go." So McKenzie King said to his bureaucrats: "All right we will attend, but don't make any promises or commitments. Don't say anything, just listen."

Unfortunately for the Jewish people, and unfortunately for Canada, the head of Canada's Immigration Department for thirty-five years, (during the most important years from 1933 when Hitler rose to power through 1948 when the state of Israel was reborn), was also a rabid anti-Semitic Christian who went to church every Sunday. His name was Blair. He bragged that he consistently kept the Jews out of this country.

So Roosevelt called this conference and representatives from thirty-seven Western nations set aside a week to discuss the problem. The American representative stood and proclaimed: "I am sorry. We can't take any more." One nation after another followed and in Pilate-like fashion washed their hands of Jewish blood. Britain offered to take some children. Only the three smallest countries Denmark, Holland and the Dominican Republic offered refugee status to the Jews. Half way through the convention, the newspapers reported that the delegates had given up and had gone skiing and boating and had lost interest in the issue.

Nazi observers sent by Hitler to the conference returned to inform him: "You can do what you like to the Jews. Nobody cares." God help us! So the West was directly implicated by non-action. Canada's sad story is fully documented in a book called None Is Too Many. It is written by two Jewish Canadians who have taken the diaries of McKenzie King and the official documents of the Immigration Department and have proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that Canada was violently anti-Semitic in its immigration policy from 1933 to 1948.

Now paradoxically in 1948, when the Jews no longer needed Canada, Canada changed its immigration policy to allow Jewish immigration. Now if you can come up with any other answer than a spiritual answer for that I would like you to tell me about it. Canada shall yet be held accountable for it's policy. It isn't that we ranked third or fourth or fifth, but of twenty-seven nations, we ranked twenty-seventh. We let in fewer Jews than any Western country including the smallest Western countries. We let in about five thousand over a period of fifteen years and each one was as the result of Jewish lobbying and pressure; and Blair himself had to sign every permit. Genesis 12:3 "And God said unto Abraham, `I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you" Let me just say that Canada is not under any blessing as a result of our national policy towards the Jews. The curse is perhaps a suspended sword.

When Jesus stood up in the synagogue and read from Isaiah and said that " the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him to set the captives free and to preach the gospel to the poor and to heal the broken hearted and deliver up the captives from the prisons and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord"; it is very interesting then when that Scripture is requoted in the New Testament that the next phrase is "And the day of judgment of our God." In the New Testament when Isaiah 61 is quoted, that last phrase is not quoted because between those two phrases is the dispensation of Grace. "To preach the acceptable year of our Lord" introduced the Church Age and it is at the end of that age that the judgment shall fall upon the nations. Check it out. It is very interesting; two thousand years is a comma or a space between two words. The same is true of the Book of Daniel, how long a period of time between the end of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th week ? Answer: from the date of the crucifixion to the day of the Second Coming! "A day is with the Lord a thousand years and a thousand years as a day."

So Canada is involved. Frankly I wasn't surprised to find that Canada was involved because spirituality is consistent. The powers of darkness are consistently dark; and the powers of light are consistently light. I knew that McKenzie King was a spiritist. I knew that he purportedly talked to his dead mother and even his dead dog by consulting a crystal ball ( the Bible calls it "necromancy") - the Prime Minister of this nation!

If you want proof as to what God thinks of such people over nations, then read the book of Samuel and what happened to Saul when instead of consulting God he went to the witch of Endor. It is serious business! It wasn't just serious business for McKenzie King and for Canada in a collective intangible; it is serious for you and me because we live here.

Now how could Hitler have done what he did and get away with it? It is not just that a few people were involved. Ultimately hundreds of thousands had to become knowingly involved in the extermination process. As I mentioned before, it did not start in 1939. As a matter of fact it didn't start in 1933, or 1833, or 1433. To find the roots of this in Western civilization we have to go back to the fourth century when a Roman emperor named Constantine established so-called Christianity as the State religion of the Roman Empire. That was probably the worst thing that could possibly have happened to the new faith. From there things went from bad to worse. When the Roman Empire collapsed, the Faith fell into the hands of Canon Law.

For instance, in the synod of Elvera held in the year 306 A.D. intermarriage and sexual intercourse between Christians and Jews was prohibited for Christians. At the second synod of Elvera in also in 306 A.D. Jews and Christians were not permitted to eat together. Christians were forbidden to attend Jewish biblical feasts. As a matter of fact, Easter which had originally occurred at Passover where it should be was moved to another date to protect the new Christians from the "terrible Judaizers."

It was moved to a celebration of a Babylonian feast called Ishtar, the Babylonian fertility cult. Hence our Easter eggs and little bunny rabbits without any apparent significance. You will notice at Easter people are taken up with Easter eggs and bunny rabbits, but not about the crucifixion, the burial and the resurrection except within Christian circles. The same two spirits are at work: the mystery of godliness and the mystery of iniquity which are wrestling through the ages to the final end - consumed by a holy God.

This is the darkest of all subjects except there is light at the end of the tunnel. Nobody has to be anti-Semitic. There is coming a time even on this earth when according to the prophets anti-Semitism will end. Ten Gentiles will take the skirt of a Jew and say, "Let us go up with you to Jerusalem for we see that God is with you." Christian theologians for centuries have not seen that God is with the Jew.

But In 535 A.D. the Church passed a law saying that Jews were not allowed to hold public office. In 538 A.D. Jews were not allowed to employ Christian servants or possess Christian slaves; and Jews were not permitted to show themselves in the streets during Holy Week. In 681A.D. the Talmud and other books were burned by the Church in Europe. In 692 A.D. the Church passed a Canon Law saying that Christians were not permitted to patronize Jewish doctors. In 1050 A.D. Christians were not permitted to live in Jewish homes - an economic restriction. In 1078 A.D. Jews were obligated to pay taxes in support of the Christian Church. In 1179 A.D. Jews were not permitted to be plaintiffs or witnesses against Christians in the courts. In the third Lateran Council in 1179, Jews were not permitted to withhold inheritance from descendants who had converted to Christianity.

In 1215 A.D., the fourth Lateran Council, the marking of Jewish clothes with a yellow badge became a law of the Church. It did,t originate there. It came from the countries that are now Islamic. It came from pre Islamic Islam, if I may put it that way. Today in Iran the synagogues are closed, the Jewish schools are closed, and Jewish children are attending Islamic schools dressed in yellow uniforms. Singled out again for persecution by Islam.

I only want to say one thing about Islam, and it is that Islam is anti-Christ. The Dome of the Rock standing on the temple site has around the inside in Arabic that "Allah is the one and only god; has not begotten a Son; and none is his equal". I tell you on the authority of Scripture, I John 4, "Who is a liar except he who denies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God come in the flesh." Islam is anti-Christ and therefore when the chips are down Islam will be anti-Jew and anti-Christian; and that is a prophetic word.

In 1222 A.D. the Church passed a law that the construction of new synagogues was illegal. In 1267 A.D. Christians were not permitted to attend Jewish ceremonies at all. Also in 1267 compulsory ghettos were set-up in Eastern Europe - slums for Jews. The biggest ghetto in Europe was across the street from the Vatican. In 1279 A.D. Christians were not permitted to sell or rent real estate to Jews. In 1310 A.D. adoption by a Christian to the Jewish religion or return of a baptized Jew to the Jewish religion was defined as heresy and subject to burning at the stake. In 1368 A.D. sale or transfer of certain religious articles to Jews was outlawed. In 1434 A.D. Jews were not permitted to obtain academic degrees.

I won't go on with the horrible catalogue. There are centuries and centuries of consistent waves and acts of anti-Semitism coming from the leaders of the institutionalized Church. But we say, well of course, that is the Roman Church. We Protestants haven't got any such history. But if we read enough of Martin Luther, we find that Martin Luther, enlightened as he was by Galatians: "For by grace are you saved through faith, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast",starting out very sympathetic to the Jews, (but watch this one), disappointed in their response to his preaching became very bitter, calling the Jews "children of the Devil" etc.. The last four sermons he preached before he died laid the blame for Germany's problems on the Jews.

"The human heart is desperately wicked. Who can know it?" That speaks to me. You see, for the light that God has made available is a giant cedar of Lebanon, and I think that the most any of us get out of it is a toothpick. Having received the toothpick we think that we have received the tree - a word of caution to us all. What happened to Jesus less than a week after the crowd had laid down their robes and palm branches. They became politically disappointed. If we could see it, we would see the same human beings who were saying: "Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David!" were probably in the mob saying: "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" (Gentiles included).

You know it is a very strange form of Christianity that can say to the Jew: "You are a Christ killer!" and not read the rest of the Bible. Pilate wasn't a Jew; the centurion that thrust the spear in His side wasn't a Jew. My Bible says that the Gentiles gathered together in that crowd and shouted too. Of course the answer is related to the question: "Is the New Testament anti-Semitic or is the Old Testament anti-Semitic?" No! The Old Testament and the New Testament are anti-sin and God is no respecter of persons and wherever sin is found His blessing is not. So if someone tells you that the New Testament is anti-Semitic, it is not. God is for people, be they Gentile or Jew. It is sin and the evil one that are the enemies of mankind, and God's plan of Redemption!

So the question: "How did Hitler get away with it?" was because most people agreed with him. Let me tell you that people had to be corrupted in high places to get this thing started. I am a lawyer by profession, but I am telling you that the German lawyers and judges had to be corrupted. The Nazi Minister of Justice called in the judges and said that we are bringing in these measures to make sure that the German race is kept pure and the German blood stream kept pure and you must enforce these laws or we will find some other judges who will; and judges who didn't were shot eventually.

I have in my possession a copy of Newsweek Magazine (cover price ten cents - that will prove to you it was 1933) dated February 17, 1933, one month after Hitler came to power. What does it say on page 12 of Newsweek? "A sizzling anti-Semitic tirade by Hans Frank, the Nazi legal expert, with another of the week,s productions in Germany. Frank denounced Paul Loeb, Socialist Chairman of the Reichstag Permanent Committee for Safeguarding Parliamentary Rights, for referring to Hitler as: `Adolf, the Slovak with bloody fingers. Loeb adjourned the meeting and left the hall with his fellow Socialists amid Nazi howls of "swine" and "Jew boys". That evening Republicans had a chance to shout when 100,000 of them jammed the great gas-lit square before the Czar's palace. They responded Otto Wells, Socialist Reichstag member, Las Huttenberg and Vice-Chancellor Von Pappin." It goes on then to say that Hitler was going to hold elections, but the outcome really didn't matter because it had already been decided that democracy didn't work. "Hitler was no parliamentarian", he said. This new cabinet is no new addition to the countless parliamentary governments which we have had, if it were I would not be in it. All depends on the present forces of deliverance remaining in control. They are determined to stay in power come what may. The speech was widely interpreted as forecasting a Hitler dictatorship for Germany."

So we were not as uninformed as our history books would have us believe. As a matter of fact, if you pick up a history book, or particularly a history book on the history of the Church, ( like I did to find out about the history of anti-Semitism), you won't find very much. That was very shocking to me. I mean that was the logical place for me to start. I would just get a book on the history of the Church and read about it. Well it isn't in there, and it isn't in our school histories, and it isn't in our university history courses, I went there and took them. Why ? Because it is part of the spiritual conspiracy to keep it secret.

There are four basic reasons which prevent a broader understanding of the significance of this problem. The first is that writers studying it from one time frame often come up with over-simplified analysis that don't apply to another outbreak. Secondly, none of the theories alone given in the worldly analysis are able to explain the persistent vitality and complexity of anti-Semitism. Thirdly, the distorted images and myths about Jews have been culturally handed down from generation to generation. We know how prevalent they are - the Jewish jokes so-called and the caricatures.

In British Columbia during the Lebanese crisis, a newspaper in northern B.C. published a so-called cartoon that showed Begin nailing Lebanon to a cross. A North American production, the American Nazi Party, shows a caricature of a number of people with big noses lined up for a shower. It said, "The only good Jew is a clean Jew. We are back - The American Nazi Party." This is a reprint of a flyer distributed by Neo-Nazis in the mid-U.S.

Coming back to Canada again, Toronto is probably the world greatest publisher and distributor of anti-Semitic literature. Ernst Zundel in Toronto, a German-born Landed immigrant (not yet a Canadian) can't be touched by Canadian laws as they presently stand. The Klu Klux Klan and Zundel are above Canadian laws. Zundel exports his anti-Semitic publications to Western Germany. There is a Nazi Party in British Columbia, Canada. The head office of the Klu Klux Klan, which is violently anti-Semitic, has been moved to Vancouver, B.C. from Toronto, being forced out of the United States by the laws passed there since the Civil Rights legislation. So they are coming to Canada where they can do what they want.

I asked the Jewish leaders, "Why was it that Canada's hate literature law passed in the 1960s wasn't enforced?" I knew something about Canada,s hate literature law (because when it was being passed I was lobbying against it as an anti-semite). So I knew that there was a hate literature law in Canada. The sad answer was that the definition given in that legislation of anti-Semitism is not sufficiently modern to capture those who are anti-Semitic under the disguise of anti-Zionism.

Anti-Zionism of course is just a political belief whereas anti-Semitism is a racial prejudice. So these bigots and servants of Satan (whether they know it or not) have found a free pasture to operate in Canada. Fourthly, most people gain meager knowledge from school, college or even university because the subject is either omitted, glossed over or presented for different reasons. The impression given, if any is given, is that anti-Semitism is rare, deviant and unexplainable. But anything that is as consistent as anti-Semitism in Western civilization is not rare. It is like the common cold. I think that it is always there and only surfaces during a time of stress.

We had a great example of it in the Western media during the Lebanon crisis. I can remember being on an open-line programme with Bernice Gerrard in Vancouver on the day of the massacres in Lebanon, and the verbal abuse heaped upon us for making the statement: "We don_t know who did it, but we know that the Jews didn't do it." would make your hair stand on end. People phoned in and screamed and ranted and raved and cursed and everything, and all we could say was that we don,t know who did it, but we know that Israel did not do it. Now the official report is out. Israel did not do it. Neither did Haddad, the leader of the southern Lebanese, a born again Spirit filled Christian by the way. But you see Satan wanted to blame the Jews first and the Christians second.

Actually who did it? The so-called Christian Philangists who are pseudo-Christians running the drug trade! The Philangists were originally a political party that took up arms. The political party was established by Jameer,s father during the Lebanese Civil War, (that you heard nothing about), that raged for eight years prior to 1982; during which 100,000 people were killed: Moslems, Christians and Jews, and 250,000 people wounded; and you likely never heard a word about it for eight years. The PLO went into places like Sidon and Demur and Tyre and machine-gunned hundreds of Christians; anybody that stood up to them. But we Christians, like the Jews, are "counted as sheep for the slaughter", and nobody cares.

Can we get any answers from the Scriptures? Praise God we can! I had to search it out by going backwards in the Scriptures, but I will reverse the process for you to make it easier. It starts in Genesis. (LORD, we pray that you will open our eyes so that we may see with Spiritual eyes and hear with Spiritual ears. Bind every power of darkness that would keep us from knowing the truth for the truth shall make us free. We ask this Father in Jesus_ name. Amen.) God said, "I will put enmity between thee (that is the Serpent) and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed." The seed of the woman that is relevant is the seed of spiritual Israel - the seed of Messiah. "He shall bruise thy head ,(if you bruise a serpent,s head, it is dead) and thou shalt bruise His heel."

That is the first Messianic prophecy in the Bible. All later prophecies flow out of it! Hallelujah! Satan bruised Jesus, but He rose from the dead! That is the root of the matter. When God made that pronouncement that there would be on this earth war between the seed of the Serpent and the seed of the woman the battleground was set.

Now some people can't see it there. But if we turn to Exodus 1:8, "Now there arose up a new king over Egypt who knew not Joseph." and 1:12, "But the more they afflicted them the more they multiplied and grew and they were afraid because of the children of Israel." Spiritual jealousy and fear! I have heard people, when you talk about modern Israel and God's promises of restoration and using the Jews yet in human history,( educated people are the worst by the way - doctors and lawyers), and do you know what venom comes out of their mouths concerning the Jews and Israel ? It simply proves what Paul says in Romans, " that the poison of asps is under their tongues" That is a picture of a snake just before it strikes; its poison sacks are hid behind its lips, but went it strikes the poison sacks come out like our tongues. "What's all this business about blankety blank chosen Jews anyway?"

Jealousy! Exodus 1:16, "When you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women and see them upon the stools, if it be a son, you shall kill him." There it is. Satan is particularly after the male offspring because Messiah is the son of David who was the son of Abraham. Verse 22, "Pharaoh charged all the people saying, `Every son that is born you shall cast into the river._" In Exodus 17 gives us another picture in verses 8 and 16. Exodus 17 tells of Amalek who is a picture of Satan in the flesh the enemy of Israel (and the enemy of the Christian). "Then came Amalek and fought with Israel at Rephidim...And Moses said, `Because theirs is a hand against the throne of the LORD, the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation." The flesh verses the Spirit. There is much to be learned from the study of Amalek because he is a type of Satan.

The children of Israel had come through the Red Sea. They were on their way to Rephidim - 600,000 males plus women and children. You can picture it. The strong - Moses and the leaders would be up in front. They would be stretched along the desert. The weak and the small children would be at the back, "and along came Amelak" (Satan's servant). It is a pattern of his operations. "We are not ignorant of his devices," the New Testament tells us. He attacked by surprise, they weren't expecting him, and he attacked at the weakest point. And that is what he will do in your life and mine. That is why once Ezra laid the foundations and built the temple, but ultimately " no other foundation than Jesus Christ can be laid." That is why Nehemiah rebuilt the walls, and the walls represent our our moral fiber and the spiritual steel in our backbone. The enemies of Israel, if they ever broke through would come back to the same weak point in the wall. So don't expect any mercy from your enemy if you have a weak point. We all have many.

Along came Amalek. Then we get a great insight in the book of Esther. It is a perfect picture. It starts out with Mordecai saving the life of the king. You don't often hear about that. What you do hear is that the Jews can't be trusted, and that they are traitors. That is what Blair said in Canada. "Can't trust the Jews. They will be traitors. They make lousy soldiers and they make lousy farmers." Those were Mr. Blair's reasons. Too bad he couldn't be taken on a tour of Israel - the world's best farmers and the world's best soldiers. Mr. Blair had a belief system, in that department, which was not from the LORD.

So Haman gets promoted, and Haman of course is just an earlier Hitler, and Mordecai fails to bow to Haman. Now that says a lot. If you come along as the `big shot_riding on your horse and you were going through the market and everyone is bowing to you but one man; well is he not bowing to you, perhaps it is because he is bowing to another higher than you. We know what trouble that can cause. So Mordecai refused to bow his knee to Haman or anyone but the God of Israel. Esther's heroic plan was to go in, as advised by Mordecai, and we all know that Haman like Hitler received Divine retribution. Haman built a gallows on which every Jew in the kingdom was to be hung, but instead due to God's intervention through a faithful earthen vessel named Queen Esther, Haman hanged from the gallows he built.

Hitler blew his brains out, and Mussolini was hung by the mob. "I will curse those who curse you Abraham." In Daniel 3 we get another picture; the three children of Israel refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar's golden idol, and it is bow or burn, and the children of Israel say, "Our God is able to deliver us. We don't know whether He will, but we know that He is able, but whether He does or not, we will not bow down or worship the golden image." The fiery furnace was heated up seven times hotter than normal, so much so that Nebuchadnezzar's servants who threw in the children of Israel died at the gates of the furnace from the heat. Nebuchadnezzar a little while later looked into the furnace and said, "What is that I see? There are four men!" Hallelujah! The Angel of the Lord protected them.

Are Israel's present enemies anything new? No! Let's turn to Psalm 83. We need spiritual answers. It is not that God is a respecter of any persons for we know that any human being can come to the Mercy Seat through the conviction of sin and repentance. "Whosoever will may come." But God knew that there would be mainstreams, and one of the mainstreams that would be against Israel would be Ishmael's descendants - Egypt. And let us say in fairness, I don't apologize for what God gave the Egyptians. God made promises to Ishmael's descendants that God has performed. He said that He would give them twelve princes; He said that He would give them a vast population; He said that He would give them vast geographical territories; He said that He would bless them and give them wealth.

Who has the oil wells? So far there is not one significant oil well in all of Israel. Who has all of the land in the Middle East? Israel has 8,000 sq. miles; three-quarters the size of Vancouver Island; and Satan does not want Israel to have that. So the plan is to take away 2,000 sq. miles from the 8,000 sq. miles. The 2,000 sq. miles they want to take away is called the West Bank, but you should not be taken in by that, because it is Judea and Samaria. Do you think that God is going to give to His enemies, and the enemies of His chosen people, Judea and Samaria which Joshua conquered from the Canaanites? Never! Never!

David knew (Psalm 83): "Keep not silent God. Hold not peace. Be not still God. Your enemies make a noise." Strange, you would think he would say "our enemies make a noise", but he doesn't. "Those who hate You have raised their heads. They have taken crafty counsel against Thy people and consulted against Thy hidden ones." Remember when the prophet said that I am all alone. Poor me. God said, "I have kept me 7,000 who have not bowed their knees to Baal." The hidden ones. "They have said, (this is the enemies of Israel)" `Come, let us cut them off from being a nation so that the name of Israel may be no more remembered in the earth." This is rather profound. This is three thousand years ago. "They have consulted together with one consent. They are confederate. They are conspirators against You God." And then they are listed, the tents of the Edomites.

Who are the Edomites? Who was the first Edomite? Esau who rejected his birthright. Follow through Esau's descendants: Amalek, Agag, Herod (who tried to kill the Christ child). The Ishmaelites (and I am not saying there and the Scripture is not saying that the Edomites and the Ishmaelites are kept out of the kingdom of heaven, but the mainstream will not accept Christ and so it is today.) David goes on, and it is interesting that he reveals the heart of God and at the end he says, "As the fire burns, as the flames sets the mountains on fire, persecute them (but the interesting verse is verse 18, God,s motive is still merciful); he says, "So that men may know that Thou whose name alone is Jehovah are the most high God over all the earth."

God only brings down final judgment as an absolute last resort. His motives are to pluck as many as possible from the fire. So we find that the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Ishmaelites are the traditional enemies of Israel according to the Scripture. In 2nd Kings 16:6 we find that the Jews were driven from Elath. In Psalm 74:8 Israel_s enemies make another statement: "They said in their heart, `Let us destroy them altogether. They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land._" Israel's enemies.

When Jordan had Jerusalem before the Six Day War they had it for nineteen years. They had the West Bank; they had Jerusalem. What did Jordan do for the Arab refugees? Not a thing! The king of Jordan built a gambling palace down at the Dead Sea. But as soon as Israel took the West Bank and Jerusalem, the world suddenly becomes concerned. Well my suggestion to you is not that the world is so concerned about the Arabs, they just don,t want the Jews to have the West Bank and Jerusalem.

My proposition briefly to you is this: if God has chosen the Jewish people for a mission on this earth, and if God has chosen a piece of real estate to give them on the earth to prove that He is and that He is a covenant keeping God, and if God has chosen Jerusalem for His Son to sit and rule and reign and rule the nations with a rod of iron, why wouldn't Satan want to destroy all three? If you watch your news and read your newspaper with that in your head you will sort it out. If you watch your news and read your newspaper apart from the revelation of the Word of God, you will never get it clear, and you will be as confused as Satan wants you to be. Deuteronomy 7:6 ; God,s honour is at stake.

If Satan,s servants can keep Jerusalem from being Christ's throne, then they have accomplished on earth what they failed to accomplish in heaven. Satan said, "I will ascend into the throne of the Most High God." Satan has lost the battle in the heavenlies, but he is not convinced that he has yet lost it on earth. He wants to have one of his, the antichrist, sit on David's throne in Jerusalem, and that is what the coming days are all about. We are in it. It is no longer something that is going to happen some day. All the nations of the earth shall come up together against Jerusalem and then shall the LORD reveal Himself for His people, and they will no longer say, "Wasn't it marvelous when our fathers were brought out of Egypt, but they will be able to say, `Our God has delivered us! Hallelujah! Not 4000 years ago, but today.

And so shall it be. Not because you say so or I say so, but because the Almighty Word of a covenant- keeping Holy God has said so. It doesn't depend on the cooperation of man, in the last resort. Man can drag his heals. We can be disobedient and make the pain last longer, but in the end it says in the Scriptures that God will cause the wrath of man to praise Him. Did Nebuchadnezzar know that he was an army and a leader in the hands of God? No! After he had conquered the world, he still didn't know God and God had to turn him into almost an animal eating grass and drive him out of his mind before he came to his senses and learn the lesson that there is a God who reigns in the affairs of nations and men.

Did Titus, the Roman Emperor, know that he was a servant of God when in 70 A.D. he burned the second temple and the Holy of Holies? Was it a coincidence that the day on the Jewish calendar when the first temple of Solomon was burned and the day when the second temple of Herod was burned in 70 A.D. was the same day of the same month? The 9th day of Av! No, we just say that it is a coincidence, but all is under control. Deuteronomy 7:6-7 says, "You are a holy and set apart people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people to Himself,out of all the peoples on the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love upon you and choose you, because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the fewest of all people."

In Amos 3:2 He said, "You only of all the families of the earth have I know." Immense privilege to be the vehicle of the Light. He said, "You are the apple of My eye." The pupil of the eye. What a beautiful picture for literally the light of creation enters our beings through the pupil of the eye. A tennis ball hit my friend very hard in the eye, but the eye is so constructed that he wasn't blinded. God has protected the eye. It is protected from dust and dirt. It has a watering system to wash it and keep it clean. You can hit it; it is built in protected; it is recessed. If God put that much protection into the human eye, think of the protection He has built in spiritually to His spiritual eye "Israel". He that touches the apple of His eye is in trouble (Zechariah 2:8).

We find anti-Semitism in the New Testament stated as a matter of fact historically. In Acts 16:19, 20, it says: "These men being Jews doing exceedingly trouble our city." (That is what Mr. Blair said in Ottawa: "These men being Jews will exceedingly trouble our country. We should not let them in.") The charges were made by silversmiths who are making idols and selling them, and when Paul comes along and starts preaching the gospel of Christ and their profits go down the drain they say: "These Jewish rascals." In Acts 18:2, it says in parenthesis that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome. just a Scriptural historical reference.

Paul in Romans 1:30 comes up with the real answer. He is describing the fall of man in chapters 1, 2 and 3 (It is a good place for us to end.), and he is describing the heart of fallen man. The first two chapters of Romans are a greater revelation on the fall of man in Genesis. You know before I became a Christian I had heard people who went to church debating a curriculum, I believe it was in the United Church. Someone wanted to rewrite the Bible; by the way, the Reader's Digest did. They didn't do a very good job because they left out 320,000 words, and I am sorry to say that they left out that part in Revelation that says: "If any man adds to or takes away from the words in this Book..." So that is serious. By the way, the Reader's Digest owns a map- making company in Scotland called Bartholomews and they publish maps of the world, but they sell them to the Arabs.

Israel is not on their maps; it is called Palestine. "They do not like to retain God in their knowledge so God gave them over to a retrobate mind." God is giving mankind what they want. "To do those things which are not profitable, being filled with all unrighteousness: fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deficit, malignity, whisperers, backbiters, haters of God." Have you ever heard anyone curse Muhammad or Buddha? I haven't. Why do the most spiritually ignorant people curse the name of Jesus? Because He is LORD. Why does every major religion have to deal with Jesus? The cults deal with Him. Islam deals with Him. They can't ignore Him.

They just preach a different Jesus. Paul said to us: "If anyone comes to you preaching a different Jesus and a different gospel let him be accursed." All sorts of religions in North America even have in their names "Jesus Christ" but they are not preaching the Jesus Christ that is written in the Word. You get right into some of the major ones and they say that Jesus Christ is the elder brother of Satan. I am speaking of the Mormons. In their highest places, that is their teaching, in the secret places. You see they have to bring Jesus down from off His throne, and at least turn Him into an ordinary man who is not God. If Jesus was an ordinary man who died on the cross two thousand years ago, He can't help you or me; but as the Son of God come in the flesh, (in God's love and mercy to show us how God wanted us to live), if that is who He is, He can help us!

As an unbeliever, I had come to the first part of that decision years ago. I knew the teaching of Christianity, but Jesus was "a man" and how could a man who died two thousand years ago help me? But when I was in the bottom of the pit, when I was further from God then I had ever been in my life, when I was on the verge of killing myself by means of an airplane crash to end the pain, the Man who hung on the cross showed me that it was for us. That started the revolution. We live in a world of revolution. If anyone has the guts to have a revolution, become a Christian.
