Unmask Arafat!

You have to take your hat off to the man. In accusing Israel of "declaring war on the Palestinians", PLO leader Yasser Arafat has again demonstrated both his unmitigated gall, and enviable genius at getting the world to dance to his tune.

Somebody should fling Arafat's lying accusation back in his face:

No, Mr Arafat. Israel has not declared war on you. It is you who have regularly and repeatedly declared, and waged, war against the Jewish people.

• It was you who, in that mosque in Johannesburg eight months after signing your treaty with Yitzhak Rabin, told the Muslims of South Africa (and I have the cassette recording of your speech) to come and to fight and to start the jihad to liberate Jerusalem ... We are in need of you as Muslims, as warriors of jihad.
• It was you who, in Stockholm, after signing Oslo II, reiterated your resolve to eliminate the State of Israel and establish "a purely Palestinian state". You would, you said, "make life unbearable for Jews [so that] Jews won't want to live among us Arabs".
• It was you who last September vowed to "sacrifice the last boy and the last girl so that the Palestinian flag will be flown over the walls, the churches and the mosques of Jerusalem".
• It was you, in a letter to the heads of anti-Israel organisations in November 1994 wrote that "it is forbidden that [the Oslo Agreements] harm the continued struggle against the Zionist enemy."
• It was you who praised, again and again, and as recently as last July, Palestinians like Yiyhe Ayyash and Dalal al-Maghrabi, the killers of dozens of Jews.
• It was you who spun the web of deceit around the purported annulment of your PLO Covenant. Despite the Oslo Agreements in which you committed yourself to do so, you did not, ensuring that the covenant calling for Israel's destruction still stands today.

In the years since you started out on your trail of terror, you and your organisation have sowed hatred and violence in counry after country.

• You declared war on, and attempted to wage war against, King Hussein and his people after Jordan had fought for your cause and extended its hospitality towards you.
• You declared war on, and waged a vicious war against, the people of Lebanon, attempting to create your state-within-a-state after they graciously welcomed you into their land. Accounts of the brutality of your rule in Lebanon would fill all the shelves in our home.
• You encouraged your people to support Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, after that tiny land had given shelter and employment to tens of thousands of "your" people.
• Your declared war against all the enemies of the Arab and Muslim people has taken the lives of thousands of Israelis, Americans, French, Argentinians and others.
  
  
• And now you, in a masterstroke, say that bulldozing illegally constructed homes in Jerusalem, and building lots of new homes in Yesha, constitute a declaration of war.
